"Channel Surfer" covers the wide world of cable and network television through a mix of elements in a single column. The mix varies, but might include a 4- to 6-inch news item or preview of an upcoming show; three to five even shorter television news items; and a collection of one- or two-line notes. "Channel Surfer," which runs five days a week, replaced a more traditional TV column focused largely on network prime time shows. The new column includes much more information on daytime talk and entertainment shows. Four staff members contribute; wire also is used.
