Convergence

Countdown to convergence

  • November 1999 — The JSOnline.com Web site is fully integrated into the newsroom with reporting responsibility to the editor of the Journal Sentinel.  Also, the newsroom dramatically increases the number of breaking news stories that are posted on jsonline.com before they are published in the newspaper
  • February 2000 —  The portal site Onwisconsin.com is launched. The Web site has content from all  the Milwaukee area Journal Communications media companies and is a portal to the companies’ sites.
  • May 12, 2000 — Journal Sentinel editors and WTMJ-TV news directors meet in the morning and begin sharing content that night.
  • May 24, 2000 — A Journal Sentinel reporter on assignment in Boston reports a version of the story for WTMJ.
  • May 26, 2000 — Plans are completed to put a TV camera in the Journal Sentinel newsroom so WTMJ can interview Journal Sentinel reporters.
