Congratulations ...
Ken Bunting, who moves from managing editor to executive editor
of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer ... Terry Greenberg, promoted
to editor from managing editor of The Elkhart (Ind.) Truth ... Houston
Chronicle staffers Tony Pederson, Tommy Miller and Susan Bischoff.
Tony became executive editor; Tommy replaced Tony as managing editor; and
Susan moves from assistant managing editor to Tommy’s former deputy managing
editor job ... Tom Kelsch who became publisher of Stars and Stripes.
He had been executive editor ... Lee Salem, from editorial director
to editor of Universal Press Syndicate ... Leo Wolinsky, former
managing editor, news, now executive editor of the Los Angeles Times.
Other moves...
Perry Flippin is happy to be returning home to Texas as editor
of the San Angelo Standard-Times. He had been in various capacities with
Donrey, most recently as associate editor at the Southwest Times Record
in Fort Smith, Ark. ... Roger Oglesby moved from president, Orange
County Edition, Los Angeles Times, to editor and publisher of the Seattle
Post-Intelligencer. He replaces J.D. Alexander, named assistant
to the president of Hearst Newspapers.
Death
We just learned of the death of Desmond Maberley, retired editor
of Reuters, on Dec. 14. Des had been a member of ASNE since 1988.
