ASNE on the move

First Amendment project begins

The First Amendment is the cornerstone to many of the freedoms that Americans often take for granted.

ASNE is participating in a new program this fall to educate not only Congress and the FCC, but also the American public about the important role the First Amendment plays in their lives.

The Cornerstone Project has a simple, underlying message: Everyone has a stake in the First Amendment.

The program will get this message to the public through public service announcements, media relations efforts and a national symposium.

Broadcast PSA’s with celebrities, talk show appearances, op-ed pieces and meetings with editorial boards are just a few ways The Cornerstone Project will spread the word.

The project, operated by The Media Institute, is sponsored by the National Association of Broadcasters, the Newspaper Association of America, the American Association of Advertising Agencies and the Magazine Publishers of America.

ASNE is one of 10 stakeholder groups advising the project.
