ASNE on the move

Join ASNE’s November trip to Ireland, Northern Ireland, London

An ASNE group will visit Northern Ireland, the Irish Republic and London Nov. 1-12 for a series of briefings and some sightseeing. ASNE is seeking briefings with top political, business and journalism leaders in all three countries.

"The governments of the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain have both pledged their assistance, and we expect to have an excellent array of appointments," said Matt Storin, editor of The Boston Globe and chair of ASNE’s International Committee, which is organizing the trip.

The estimated cost of the trip is $5,000 for those traveling alone, $4,500 each for those traveling as a couple. Spouses are welcome, although no formal program is planned for them.

The itinerary includes a New York briefing on Nov. 1 before departure; Belfast Nov. 3-5; Dublin, Nov. 6-8; and London, Nov. 9-11. The group will fly back to the United States on Nov. 12.

ASNE members interested in the trip should contact Mary Minnich at ASNE (703/453-1121; mminnich@asne.org). A $500 deposit is needed.

Haiman, president emeritus, The Poynter Institute for Media Studies; William B. Ketter, editor, The Patriot Ledger, Quincy, Mass., David Levine, editor, The Tribune-Democrat, Johnstown, Pa.; Arleen Levine, Johnstown, Pa.; Mary Jo Meisner, executive vice president and editor, Community Newspaper Company, Needham, Mass.; Ted M.
