Former ASNE president Norman Isaacs dies

Norman E. Issacs, who was president of ASNE in 1969-70, died March 7 in an Alzheimer’s clinic in California. He was 89.

He was executive editor and vice president of The Courier-Journal and Louisville (Ky.) Times when he headed ASNE. He previously worked for the Star-Times in St. Louis and The Indianapolis Times. He came out of retirement to be president and publisher of The News-Journal in Wilmington, Del.

Isaacs is survived by his wife Mildred, a daughter, and his son Steve, who is on the journalism faculty of Columbia University in New York.
