ASNE on the move

The San Francisco convention

ASNE packs its bags and heads to San Francisco April 13-16, for a provocative convention that will focus on journalism credibility, communications technology and hot topics in today’s news. ASNE members should expect to see the convention registration materials soon after the beginning of 1999.

The April 13 session starts at 3 p.m. and the Friday, April 16 lunch concludes the program. In addition to information about room rates, the information packet includes information on special ASNE airfares for those booking ahead and information on booking a room at the convention hotel, the Fairmont.

San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown will speak at the keynote breakfast, and other national and international figures have been invited to speak. This year there are book-end sessions to expand the value of the convention — a tour of Silicon Valley, a seminar on newsroom content audits, and a job fair. Receptions will include the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art on Tuesday, The Freedom Forum Newseum/USA on Wednesday, and the California Palace of the Legion of Honor on Thursday.
