Carlos Castañeda is now publisher of El Nuevo Herald in Miami. He had been vice president/editorial at El Nuevo Día in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Recently retired member Mel Opotowsky, formerly managing editor of The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, Calif., has been named ombudsman of the paper. Charlie Nutt, editor of The Daily Journal in Vineland, N.J., has taken on the additional titles of president and publisher. Julia Wallace, former executive editor of The Statesman Journal in Salem, Ore., has been named managing editor of The Arizona Republic in Phoenix.
