ASNE on the move

Ed Frede, executive editor of The News-Times, Danbury, Conn., retired July 17. Mel Opotowsky retired Aug. 1 as managing editor of The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, Calif. He will continue working at the paper part-time.  Former ASNE president James Russell Wiggins has retired as publisher of the Ellsworth (Maine) American at age 95. When he headed ASNE in 1959-60, Wiggins was executive editor of the Washington Post. He retired from the Post in 1966 and bought the Ellsworth American.
