ASNE on the move
The ASNE Journalism Credibility Project has produced its first tool
for use in the newsroom.
The “Examining Our Credibility videotape is a 70-minute edited version
of the 1998 convention’s Credibility Conversation. It comes with a video
guide to help spur newsroom conversations.
Led by Harvard Law School professor Charles Ogletree, the tape
examines the roots of credibility and takes viewers on a hypothetical situation
that tests editors’ judgments.
The tape features Harvard distinguished fellow Sissela Bok; San
Jose (Calif.) Mercury News executive editor Jerry Ceppos;
Florida Today, Melbourne, executive editor Judy Pace Christie; Tribune
Publishing Co. president Jack Fuller; Springfield (Ohio) Sun editor
Karla Garrett Harshaw; U.S. News & World Report columnist John
Leo; Austin (Texas) American Statesman editor Rich Oppel; then-Washington
Post ombudsman Geneva Overholser; CBS News anchor Dan Rather;
and U.S. Reps. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) and J.C. Watts (R-Okla.).
The cost of the videotape and guide is $15.
