Randy Brandt has joined Lee Newspapers as editor of the Journal Times in Racine, Wis. He had been the editor of the South County Journal, a Horvitz paper in Kent, Wash. Mike Curtin, editor of The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch, was also named associate publisher. David Lawrence Jr. has stepped down as publisher of The Miami Herald. He will remain as chairman until year-end. Jack Marsh, former executive editor of the Argus Leader in Sioux Falls, will continue to live in S.D. and work for The Freedom Forum on programs related to journalism education and professional development. Janet McMillan is now deputy editor at The Philadelphia Inquirer. She was editor at The Daily Journal in Vineland, N.J. Congratulations to Bob Mong, newly named president and general manager of The Dallas Morning News. He had been executive vice president of A.H. Belo Co.’s Publishing Division. In Stamford, Conn., Joe Pisani has been named editor of The Advocate. He continues as editor of the Greenwich Time. Former Advocate editor Deirdre Channing is now director of new media and special projects for both of the papers. Larry Tarleton has moved up to assistant publisher and chief operating officer of The Post and Courier in Charleston, S.C. He had been executive editor. Editor Barbara Williams assumes additional responsibilities for newsroom operations. Benjamin Taylor, publisher of The Boston Globe, will also become chairman and chief executive of the Globe Newspaper Co. on Oct. 1. Pat Yack has a new job as editor of the Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville. He had been editor of the News & Record in Greensboro, N.C. Knight Ridder has completed its headquarters move from Miami to San Jose, Calif. Transplantees include members Marty Claus, Jenny Fielder, Clark Hoyt, Mindi Keirnan, and Chip Visci.
