ASNE on the move
Scott Bosley has been selected as the next executive director
of ASNE.
“I am delighted that Scott will be moving us forward,” ASNE president
Edward Seaton said. “He brings outstanding skills and a deep experience
in newspaper editing and publishing to the ASNE executive position. The
ASNE board is extremely pleased that he has accepted this important position.”
Bosley, 55, joins ASNE after a distinguished career with Knight Ridder,
where he worked more than 30 years. He will begin working as a consultant
in ASNE headquarters effective March 1 and later assume the responsibilities
of the executive director. The present executive director, Lee Stinnett,
retires on July 1.
Bosley most recently worked as director of shared content for Knight
Ridder in Washington, which he joined after the company sold The Post-Tribune,
Gary, Ind., where he was publisher from 1995 to 1998. Prior to that, he
led the newsroom at the Journal of Commerce in New York (1991 to 1995)
and Knight Ridder Tribune Information Services in Washington (1987 to 1991).
He served as managing editor of the Detroit Free Press and The Beacon Journal
in Akron, Ohio.
He is a graduate of West Virginia University and numerous Knight Ridder
executive development programs.
Bosley will be only the fourth person to head ASNE’s staff. The Society
was founded in 1922 and hired its first staff member in 1936.
Bosley was chosen by a search committee comprised of members of the
ASNE board of directors and headed by ASNE vice president N. Christian
Anderson III, publisher and chief executive officer of The Orange County
Register, Santa Ana, Calif.
