ASNE on the move

The ASNE Nominations Committee met Jan. 23 in Savannah, Ga., and decided on 14 candidates for the seven vacancies on the board of directors.

In random order, the candidates are: Narda Zacchino, associate editor, Los Angeles Times; Richard Aregood, editorial page editor, The Star-Ledger, Newark, N.J.; Doug Clifton, executive editor, The Miami Herald; Gilbert Bailon, executive editor, The Dallas Morning News; Jane Amari, executive editor, The News Journal, Wilmington, Del.; Ken Bunting, managing editor, Seattle Post-Intelligencer; Mary Jo Meisner, editor and vice chairman, Community Newspaper Company, Needham, Mass.; Frank Denton, editor, Wisconsin State Journal, Madison; Sue Deans, vice president/editor, The Sun News, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Hunter George, executive editor, The Birmingham (Ala.) News; Earl Maucker, editor, The Sun-Sentinel, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; David Zeeck, executive editor, The News Tribune, Tacoma, Wash.; Stan Tiner, editor, The Mobile (Ala.) Register; Rick Rodriguez, executive editor, The Sacramento (Calif.) Bee.

The five candidates who receive the most votes will be elected to serve three-year terms; the sixth place winner will serve a two-year term and the seventh place winner will serve a one-year term. When there are ties, the outcome is determined by tossing a coin.
