ASNE on the move

Karen Baker has rejoined McClatchy newspapers as senior editor of The News Tribune in Tacoma, Wash. She was executive editor of The Idaho Statesman in Boise, a Gannett paper. Perry Flippin has returned to the newsroom as associate editor of the Southwest Times Record in Fort Smith, Ark. He had been director/news services for Donrey Media Group, owner of the paper. Newly named publisher of the Union-News in Springfield, Mass., Larry McDermott was editor and associate publisher of the paper for the last year after a seven-year stint as executive editor. He replaces David Starr who continues as president of the company and senior editor of Newhouse Newspapers. Kevin McKenna is now technology editor of The New York Times. He had been assistant to the deputy managing editor after returning from a Knight fellowship last year.
