ASNE on the move

ASNE called on the governments of the United States and Mexico to more energetically pursue prosecution and to share more information on their investigation into the murder of American journalist Philip True.

Mexico City bureau chief of the San Antonio Express-News, True was killed in 1998 while hiking in Mexico.

The leadership American Society of Newspaper Editors on April 12 stated:

ASNE urges the administrations of President Bill Clinton and President Ernesto Zedillo to vigorously pursue the prosecution of the case of Philip True, a journalist for the San Antonio Express-News. The two governments also should make available to the press all relevent documentation in the investigation, especially the complete autopsy reports and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s independent files.
