ASNE on the move

ASNE has set its schedule of job fairs for 1999-2000. Job fairs offer editors and recruiters a practical way to interview dozens of journalists of color at convenient regional sites.

This fall and winter, ASNE will sponsor nine regional fairs across the country. Except for Nashville and Washington, they are co-sponsored with the Newspaper Association of America and will be open to candidates and interviewers for all newspaper departments.

Another job fair is being negotiated in the West.

Most of the candidates will be minority college juniors and seniors seeking entry-level jobs and internships, though some young journalists with jobs also attend. There is a registration fee for each participating newspaper. Recruiters pay their own transportation and hotel costs.
