ASNE on the move

The Institute for Journalism Excellence would like to bring an educator to your newsroom.

The Institute is a program bringing together journalism academics who haven't been in the newsroom in several years with newspapers that are looking for someone who is more than a summer intern.

The Institute is one of the premier programs of its kind in the nation, and as such, attracts top-notch educators from excellent journalism schools; competition is intense to get in the program.

Next summer, it will include a weeklong seminar at the American Press Institute from June 11-16 and six weeks at a daily newspaper from June 19-July 28.

In the past, Fellows have worked at a daily newspaper as reporters, copy editors, assigning editors, online specialists, graphic artists and photographers.

The host newspaper pays the Fellows a salary while in the newsroom, but ASNE, with a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, picks up the rest of the tab.

For more information, contact Diana Mitsu Klos, ASNE project director at 703/453-1125 or dmk@asne.org. You can fax her at 703/453-1133.
