Former ASNE president Loren Ghiglione, Southbridge (Mass.) News, joins the faculty of Emory University to teach journalism to undergraduate students and coordinate a program that will include writing courses, internships and other newspaper work. He follows Claude Sitton, who taught at Emory after he retired as editor of the Raleigh (N.C.) News and Observer.

Cecil Bentley is the new editor of the Macon (Ga.) Telegraph, replacing Richard Thomas who returned to school. Bentley had been executive editor of the Centre Daily Times in State College, Pa. Marcia Bullard, editor of USA Weekend, has assumed the titles of president and CEO. Cole Campbell is the new editor of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He left the same job at the Norfolk Virginian-Pilot. William Woo, his predecessor in St. Louis, is teaching at Stanford. Terry Greenberg left the managing editor's position at the San Mateo (Calif.) Times earlier this year. After a brief stint with the Chamber of Commerce, he has rejoined journalism as managing editor of the Elkhart (Ind.) Truth. Mindi Keirnan has a new title. She is now vice president/operations for Knight-Ridder Inc. She had been assistant vice president. Richard Petersen is now new ventures director for the San Diego Union-Tribune; he was editor of the North County Times in Escondido, Calif. Jennie Phipps has left the Willingboro (N.J.) Burlington County Times. She is looking for a new position. Debbie Price, former editor of the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram, will be giving up membership after taking a reporting position with the Baltimore Sun. Isabel and Gil Spencer have moved back to New York from Denver; she is now assistant city editor at the Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger. Will Sutton has left the editor position at the Gary (Ind.) Post-Tribune to pursue other options.

Sadly, we must report the deaths of two retired members. Joseph F. Hladky Jr. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Preston Wolfe of Columbus, Ohio.

Diana Mitsu Klos will join the ASNE staff on Oct. 14 as project director. She was most recently managing editor of the Poughkeepsie (N.Y.) Journal.
