ASNE, joined by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, is proud to continue the connection between newspapers and journalism education through the Institute for Journalism Excellence.

In 1997, 20 full-time faculty and administrators will be chosen to participate in a seven-week summer program (June 8-July 25). The institute includes a weeklong industry update seminar and a six-week work residency at a daily newspaper. A $5,000 stipend, housing and travel are provided. The application deadline is Nov. 15.
