We wish to acknowledge the special work of those who made this Web site and the corresponding publication possible. We received strong support and encouragement for the Diversity Pacesetter Awards project from David Zeeck, ASNE president, who wanted to find a significant way to encourage best efforts in this critical area. ASNE’s Bobbi Bowman, director of Diversity Programs, provided the census material and many additional details on which the project was based. We offer thanks to George Benge and Melanie Zadrima of the Gannett Co. Inc. News Department who handled much of the detailed work on numbers-crunching and on the publication. Kate Kennedy of the Freedom Forum also carried considerable reporting and editing duties.
